Minecraft’s Fourth Dimension, The Sift, Is Coming in 2027
The Sift is Minecraft’s announced fourth dimension, but the base game will not get it until 2027. Minecraft Dungeons II introduces it first.

Mojang Studios discussed a fourth Minecraft dimension called The Sift at Minecraft LIVE on September 26. Players of the original game will have to wait: Mojang says the dimension is coming to both Java and Bedrock Edition in 2027. It is not available in those editions now.
The Sift will appear sooner in Minecraft Dungeons II, which is scheduled for September 29, 2026. That makes the action RPG the first announced place to encounter it, rather than a surprise update to the base game this week.
Two games, two release windows
In an Xbox Wire account of the reveal, rifts open into The Sift in Minecraft Dungeons II. The announcement also names the Meadows and Carapace among the environments in that game. Those details describe the upcoming Dungeons sequel; they should not be treated as a complete feature list for The Sift in Java or Bedrock Edition.
For the main game, the news is the addition of a named dimension alongside the Overworld, Nether and End. Mojang has given a year for that addition, but has not specified a 2027 day, a final biome list, or how players will enter it. A trailer or an image from the Dungeons sequel cannot settle those questions for the two base-game editions.
What players can watch for next
The September 29 launch should give Dungeons players their first opportunity to see how its rifts work. Java and Bedrock players should look for a separate Mojang update before expecting a portal or new world-generation option in their own saves. We will keep the editions distinct as more details arrive.
