New Tales’ PS5 action-adventure lets its protagonist become liquid Æther, then use that transformation to cross spaces and alter encounters.

Fading Echo launched on PlayStation 5 on September 22, 2026, and its publisher New Tales says a playable demo is available. The action-adventure follows One through Corel, a world where turning into liquid Æther is part of movement, puzzles and combat. These details come from the team’s PlayStation Blog launch post, not a NexusArc hands-on session.

Water is more than scenery

One can take a fluid form to move through narrow pipes and cracks that a person could not cross. Water also reacts with hazards such as lava, toxic waste and corruption. That makes the material a tool for reading an area and choosing a route, rather than only a visual effect.

The studio describes encounters that allow the fluid form to influence combat as well. It has not supplied a universal solution for every enemy, so the practical test will be whether players can combine movement and the environment in the situations the game presents.

Two versions of a place

The game also lets players shift between parallel realities. New Tales ties that change to traversal, puzzles and fights, adding another way to reexamine an obstacle. In a level built around water flow, a route that appears blocked in one reality may need a different approach in the other; the launch post establishes the reality-switching mechanic, not a walkthrough for any specific puzzle.

For PS5 owners curious about the idea, the demo is the clearest way to see how the controls and transformations feel before deciding whether to play the full game. Availability and the described mechanics are confirmed by the publisher; NexusArc has not independently assessed performance, difficulty or the length of the finished adventure.
