Palworld Launches in Early Access on Steam, Xbox, and Game Pass
Palworld is now available in early access through Steam, Xbox consoles, and Game Pass, with Pocketpair warning that development remains unfinished.

Palworld is now available in early access on Steam, Xbox Series X and S, Xbox One, and Windows PC. It is also included with Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass. Developer Pocketpair describes the game as an open-world multiplayer survival-crafting experience built around collecting creatures called Pals.
The combination is immediately distinctive. Players explore islands, gather materials, build bases, fight hostile creatures, and assign captured Pals to jobs. Some Pals can help with farming or manufacturing, while others serve as mounts or join combat.
Creature collecting meets survival crafting
Palworld begins with familiar survival tasks: finding food, making tools, building shelter, and learning which areas are safe. Its creature system feeds directly into those activities. A Pal’s abilities can make it suited to planting crops, generating electricity, transporting materials, or assisting at a workbench.
That creates a base-management layer alongside exploration. Instead of treating collected creatures only as a battle roster, the game makes them part of its production chain. Firearms and harsher survival themes also give Palworld a markedly different tone from family-oriented creature-collecting games.
Multiplayer differs by platform
The Steam version supports cooperative play and dedicated servers with larger groups. Xbox and Microsoft Store versions also support multiplayer, but Pocketpair warns that features and maximum player counts are not identical at launch. Cross-play between Steam and Xbox is not available today.
Those differences matter for groups choosing where to begin. Friends should confirm that they are using compatible versions before investing time in a shared world. Pocketpair says it is working on additional platform features, but early-access plans can change.
Early access means the game is unfinished
Pocketpair expects to expand Palworld with more creatures, locations, systems, and improvements based on player feedback. Bugs, balance changes, server problems, and save-related risks are possible during development. The current release should be judged as a playable work in progress, not the final version.
That warning does not diminish the ambition visible on launch day. Palworld brings together several popular genres in one unusually direct package, and Game Pass makes it easy for a large audience to try. Its next challenge is maintaining stable online play while turning early attention into a durable development community.
